Essays on Stone and Light: Works by The MacInnes Brothers
This was a collaborative project with my older brother who is an internationally renowned expressive mosaic artist based in Scotland (http://dugaldmacinnes.com). My brother constructs abstract impressions using Scottish slate to illustrate scenes from childhood memory of the landscape where we grew up. His memory of the landscape is influenced by geology and archaeology. Different stimuli influenced my childhood experience, and for the collaboration I created photographs that illustrate more literal memory associations. Using two completely different art mediums, the project conveys two autobiographical interpretations of the same place.
