K-12 Family Photo Project
During a four-month Artist Residency in Dickey County, North Dakota, I engaged with seven-hundred-and-fifty students (K-12) at three schools. I assigned them to identify all their family photographs, in shoe boxes, in family albums, framed on the wall etc. Each student had to chose a favorite and bring it to school. I then photographed each student holding their significant family photograph. The students also had to write an essay describing the photograph and why it was chosen. The project concluded with an exhibition at the Opera House Gallery in Ellendale.
